CHICAGO — At the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting, Steven M. Raikin, MD, discussed a study that looked at opioid consumption after outpatient foot and ankle surgery. He said patients were being prescribed more opioids than they needed. On average patients took about half of the narcotics they were prescribed at the time of surgery.
