U.S. News & World Report names Boston's Children’s Hospital top pediatric orthopedic hospital

Boston's Children’s Hospital received top ranking by U.S. News & World Report in the country for pediatric orthopedic medicine for the 2019-2020 year.

Other centers named to the top five for orthopedic care this year are Children’s Medical Center Dallas-Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
U.S. News & World Report publishes rankings on 10 pediatric specialties: orthopedics, cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and urology.
The data used to determine the U.S. News rankings included outcomes such as survival, surgical complications and infections to determine 33.3% of the score-based hospital evaluations. Another 15% came from a survey of pediatric specialists and subspecialists. The remaining almost 50% accounted for patient safety, excellence and family centeredness. Of the 191 hospitals surveyed for the 2019-2020 rankings, 84 were ranked among the top 50 in one or more specialties.
