Smith & Nephew completed acquisition of the Brainlab orthopedic joint reconstruction business. Commercial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

According to a press release, the two companies will collaborate to develop applications that may enhance Smith & Nephew’s digital surgery ecosystem.

Brainlab’s orthopedic joint reconstruction business offers surgeons digital workflow tools, such as preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, postoperative evaluation and sharing. Smith & Nephew plans to integrate Brainlab’s technology into its latest version of its surgical robotics system, Navio 7.0.
