LAS VEGAS — At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, SLACK Incorporated announced Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, MD, of Vejle, Denmark, was presented with the Orthopedics Lifetime Achievement Award for 2019.

The annual award, which began in 2016, was created to recognize an individual’s contributions to the advancement of the Orthopedics journal. Kjaersgaard-Andersen was selected by Editor-in-Chief, Robert D’Ambrosia, MD, and was awarded a plaque during the journal’s annual editorial board meeting.

“Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen is an accomplished, skilled and internationally recognized leader in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement,” D’Ambrosia, said. “He is a patient-centered physician who has made a huge contribution to orthopedics internationally. He is a doctor’s doctor with great caring and compassion.”

Kjaersgaard-Andersen has been in practice for more than 35 years. The current EFORT president, Kjaersgaard-Andersen is assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at South Danish University and head of the hip and knee replacement section at Vejle Hospital.
