Miach Orthopaedics Inc. announced that Martha Shadan has been appointed as company president and CEO.

According to a company press release, Shadan brings more than 30 years of medical device marketing and commercialization experience. Shadan had been executive chair of the Miach board since September 2018.

“We are very glad to have Martha Shadan joining the Miach team,” Martha Murray, MD, founder and chief medical officer of Miach Orthopaedics, said in a company press release. “Her experience in the medical device space with successful commercialization of medical devices brings in a very valuable skill set, and we are very much looking forward to working with her as the CEO.”

According to the release, Shadan had previously served in senior leadership positions at Zimmer, Covidien, Bristol Myers Squibb Co. and Merck Millipore. Additionally, she served as global vice president of marketing for Smith & Nephew plc, a role she assumed after the company acquired Rotation Medical, where she was president and CEO.

Shadan is on the board of directors of AdvaMed and Accel. She is a founding member of the Leadership Circle for the Women’s Executive Network.
