Medtronic announced the U.S. launch of its Infinity Occipitocervical-Upper Thoracic System at the  North American Spine Society Annual Meeting.

According to a company press release, the main goal of this new procedural solution is to simplify posterior cervical spine surgery, mainly through integrating navigation and biologics with Medtronic’s devices and instrumentation. By doing this, the company looks to increase efficiency in fusion procedure workflows for the upper back and neck.

“We engineered every component of the Infinity OCT System to perform efficiently during the most complex spine procedures, as well as to integrate seamlessly with our market-leading imaging and navigation technologies,” said Doug King, senior vice president and president of the Medtronic's spine division, which is part of the Restorative Therapies Group.

The system is designed for use in several conditions, including degenerative disc disease, tumors and traumatic spinal fractures.
