Bradford Waddell, MD, a hip and knee surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, was named chair of the Young Arthroplasty Group committee of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, according to a press release.

The Youth Arthroplasty Group (YAG) aims to connect young arthroplasty surgeons to promote collaboration and young surgeon activity within AAHKS, with a focus on research, leadership and advocacy.

“About 2 years ago, my colleague Dr. Jeff Lange and I sought to connect recently graduated hip and knee fellows for research and collaboration,” Waddell, who specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, said in the release. “We began with 10 to 12 surgeons, creating this new informal group and then brought the idea to AAHKS, where it has now grown into a larger group and committee.”

According to the release, Waddell began his term as chair of YAG on June 1, 2018. An AAHKS member since 2014, he was previously a health policy fellow for the society and found new ways to bring younger surgeons into the organization.
