Stryker announces changes to its leadership

Stryker Corporation announced various organizational leadership changes to occur within the company.

David K. Floyd, group president of orthopedics, will retire on June 30, 2019. According to a company press release, he will serve as group president and advisor to the CEO until the day he retires. Floyd has been at Stryker since 2012.

“We are grateful for David’s leadership and his many contributions to Stryker’s success,” Kevin A. Lobo, chairman and CEO of the company, said in the release. “His businesses consistently outgrew the market and David spearheaded several key acquisitions, including Mako. I wish David and his family all the very best in retirement”

Stryker will shift responsibility for all operating businesses and regions under Timothy J. Scannell, who will be named president and chief operating officer, effective Aug. 1, 2018. Scannell began his career with Stryker’s Endoscopy business in 1990. He later served as group president and also oversaw MedSurg and Neurotechnology.

“Over his 28 years at Stryker, Tim has built an excellent track record of high performance and people development,” Lobo said in the release. “I look forward to working closely with him and the rest of the Stryker leadership team to take Stryker to new heights.”

According to the release, under the new leadership change, J. Andrew Peirce has been named group president of MedSurg and Spencer S. Stiles has been named group president of Instruments, Neurotechnology and Spine.
