Physician from Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics receives Special Effort and Excellence Award from POSNA

Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics announced Derek M. Kelly, MD, was awarded the Special Effort and Excellent Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America during its annual meeting.

According to a press release, the Special Effort and Excellence Award is given to physicians who have completed outstanding work that coincides with the mission of Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America’s (POSNA) and have leadership roles within pediatric orthopedic research.

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Kelly for the passion he has for pediatric orthopedic research, along with his commitment for bettering the lives of his young patients,” Frederick M. Azar, MD, chief of staff at Campbell Clinic, said in the release. “There is no one more deserving of this award. We are grateful for his recognition from POSNA at this year’s meeting.”

Kelly specializes in various pediatric orthopedic conditions, such as hip dysplasia, fractures and limb deformities, sports injuries, scoliosis and foot deformities. He also treats Perthes disease and is reportedly the only physician in Tennessee who is a member of the International Perthes Study Group.
