Comments from Adam B. Yanke, MD, PhD, in this Patellofemoral Update emphasized the importance of proper placement and tensioning of medial patellofemoral ligament grafts to limit the patient’s risk of developing knee arthrofibrosis or trochlear chondral changes.

Furthermore, as treatments of the ruptured medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) move away from reefing and repairs and toward reconstruction of the MPFL, he urged physicians to focus on the surgical technique they use.
