EFORT

The main objectives of this high-value generic educational program to be presented during the upcoming EFORT Congress in Barcelona are to cover key orthopaedic developments and to give attendees professional standard updates in a given anatomical area.

The Evidence Updates Course (EUC) provides therefore educational material in the form of generic and specific skills, broad knowledge and new concepts, combining best evidence with experiences learning to enhance professional practice and allow an easy review of some common conditions (eg, proximal humeral fractures) in a specific territory (eg, upper limb).

Clinical case presentations raise the question, “What would you do?” to set the context for extensive exchange with the audience and drive the discussion toward the new concepts and procedures that have appeared in the last years for diagnosis and treatment of the proximal femur fractures.

Prof. Benjamin Bücking, deputy chair of the Working Group of Orthogeriatrics of the German Society of Trauma Surgery, will present an overview of the German Geriatric Fracture Program and its effects to enhance the summary of diagnosis and treatments for this specific type of trauma. At the end of the session, a best evidence review presentation will focus on anticoagulation and blood management, two important considerations to highlight.

The target audience for this scientific program consists of established orthopaedic practitioners wishing to update and maintain standards and orthopaedic surgeons in training who seek educational material at the level of an orthopaedic exit exam (EBOT or national).
