EFORT

The FORTE Summer School this year takes place across 5 full days of lectures from 2 to 6 July in Milan with both a Comprehensive Review Course of knowledge for junior residents and an European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology preparation course for residents approaching the exam. The format of the FORTE Summer School provides time for the exchange of clinical and training experiences and the opportunity to network with participants from more than 20 countries, as well as expert faculty from the European specialist societies during the formal and informal social programs.

FORTE Summer School will provide an accessible educational opportunity for all European trainees during any stage of their progression through residency. One of its main goals is to aid the preparation for the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EBOT) Exam, which is open to residents in their last 2 years of training (regardless if they are applying to the EBOT Exam). The other critical goal is to provide a comprehensive general review course, which is open to residents in all years of training and young orthopaedic surgeons younger than 40 years old. The format of the event is also thought to provide time for study and, most importantly, an environment and setting that would enable informal exchange of clinical and training experiences, case discussions, and networking between participants and faculty.

Specialty societies are being asked to constitute and lead the working groups in different areas, as follows:

  • Basic Science: European Orthopaedic Research Society Representative (EORS);
  • Upper Limb: European Shoulder Association (SECEC) Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH);
  • Lower Limb: European Hip Society Representative (EHS), European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and European Foot and Ankle Association (EFAS);
  • Spine: EuroSpine; and
  • Children Orthopaedics and Tumors: European Pediatrics Orthopedic Society (EPOS) and European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS).
