DePuy Synthes announced the launch of its Concorde clear minimally invasive discectomy device in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

According to a company press release, the single-use instrument removes the degenerated disc and prepares the endplates using standard hospital suction. The device features a clear handle that allows surgeons to see collected disc material. This reportedly results in fewer tool passes and instrument exchanges compared with traditional techniques. The device also reportedly removes a larger disc volume.

“The Concorde clear [minimally invasive] MIS discectomy device is a true innovation that embodies our mission to make spinal fusion surgery less invasive for patients and less complicated for surgeons,” Jordy Winters, lead of DePuy Synthes Spine EMEA, said in the release.
