Stryker launches program to assist physician groups drive profitability, efficiency, quality outcomes

Stryker’s Performance Solutions announced it has launched the Practice Excellence program, a service developed to assist orthopedic-specific physician practices drive profitability, efficiency and quality outcomes, according to a company press release.

“This is new for surgeons to see a company like Stryker — a major Fortune 300 medical device company —offering this type of service and approach them,” Brian McCrone, vice president, Performance Solutions, Stryker, told Healio.com/Orthopedics. “I think that’s what sets Stryker apart. We are forward thinking, advanced in how we approach the market, whether it is robotic technology or through how we help our customers navigate health care.”

He added, “We are committed within Stryker to help our customers navigate the market and what is going on within health care. This service is just another example of how we’re trying to do that.”

The program begins with a financial and operational analysis and a report of the health of the physician practice to determine areas for improvement. A specialized plan is developed by the Performance Solutions team based on separate value tracks that include revenue cycle management, practice redesign and ongoing data analytics. These value tracks are prioritized based on a practice’s greatest need, according to the release.

“With the pressures of government regulations that are coming down and the stress on reimbursements, the small and medium groups certainly find themselves without the back-office capability to manage all those regulations,” Richard A. Conn, MD, medical director for Stryker’s Performance Solutions, told Healio.com/Orthopedics. “That doesn’t exclude large groups however. What we do is look to go into a group, do an assessment and then we detail the gaps in these three different areas. Then, we are looking to customize the deliverable based on the actual needs of the orthopedic practice.”
