ORLANDO, Fla. — At the North American Spine Society Annual Meeting, Craig A. Kuhns, MD, discussed a study that evaluated whether incorporating silicon nitride particles enhanced bioactivity and bacteriostasis of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) polymers. He said there were less live bacteria observed with the addition of silicon nitride particles in PEEK implants.
