EFORT

Abstract submission for the 19th EFORT Congress in Barcelona opens Friday 15 September 2017. As every year, EFORT expects a large number of members of the orthopaedic and trauma community to access our online platform and submit studies in all categories.

As a novelty for next year’s congress, EFORT is offering an additional initial branching for the classification of the abstracts to better differentiate clinical research from experimental studies. A more accurate assessment of the results is expected with this new setup as the important criteria to be considered vary between both backgrounds.

Abstract submission for our Barcelona congress is the best chance to get your work integrated into the scientific program and actively join the European orthopaedics and trauma (O&T) community. Indeed, the upcoming EFORT Annual Congress will represent the largest gathering of worldwide O&T experts in 2018.

EFORT aims to provide worthy scientific guidance to congress attendees via the presentation of well-established medical techniques, and by highlighting new evidence for emerging procedures. Well-recognized experts will broadly discuss their preferred approaches to several conditions, the rationale for their decisions, their successes and failures, and their tips and tricks. During the congress, important international sources of knowledge and experience in the prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system are at the reach of every participant. As an attendee, you will identify new data related to your specialty and gather useful recommendations to enhance your daily medical practice.

Another asset when you are part of such a prominent international meeting is the shared experience. Getting in touch with a colleague who faces a patient with a medical condition similar to one of your own cases may allow you to consider a different diagnosis or treatment in a particular setting. On the other hand, presenting your own successful results can significantly influence the methods and practice of other orthopaedic surgeons and health care professionals from across the globe. Be active. Talk about your observations and share new clinical considerations that others can implement for a given diagnosis. Expand your professional network by connecting with colleagues and professional practitioners who will help you to modify research concepts and guide you to develop and publish your findings in respected publications. Benefit from the opportunity the congress provides to gain recognition from peers.

Harmonization of clinical guidelines and standards throughout Europe has been one of the main objectives of EFORT in the past years. The extensive exchange between experts from different countries that occurs at the EFORT Annual Congress can contribute to the development of systematic reviews of clinical evidence — the main source for evidence-based care. Evaluating differing medical practices within Europe, analyzing divergent opinions and identifying common recommendations can efficiently help you better outline your treatment plan.

PAGE BREAK

EFORT is the biggest European platform to share orthopaedic and trauma knowledge and emerging scientific data. The EFORT scientific sessions are training programs with high scientific value. Authors invited to contribute to the scientific content of the congress by presenting their work orally adhere to the same standards, and their contributions are vital to the success of the meeting. To be part of the program of the 2018 congress as a specialist who seeks to foster and restore the mobility, musculoskeletal health and quality of life for the European population, send us your innovative, previously unpublished work.

EFORT Barcelona Banner

To get your work selected for presentation at our upcoming Barcelona congress, the abstract should convey information that the EFORT reviewers can use to identify good quality research. Abstracts should be in English and must fit within stated parameters for length and layout. The abstract submission system is self-explanatory and online edits are easy to perform any time before the closure deadline.

Please consult the complete guidelines for abstract submission and make sure you submit your abstracts before Sunday 12 November 2017; 23:59 CET. No extensions will be given.

Information within the abstract must be an honest representation of the work you have completed and not include estimates or projections based on data available at the time of submission. Diagrams, tables and pictures are not accepted as part of the abstract content. Submitters who identify themselves as nurses, physiotherapists and members of the other allied professions are invited to submit their work under the main abstract categories (using the EFORT Topic tree available during submission). All abstracts will be evaluated under the same conditions.

Abstracts are scored against objective criteria, according to their scientific and clinical accuracy, but the score also depends on the medical relevance, originality and benefit. Several independent reviewers from the relevant subspecialty area blindly assess each abstract.

EFORT aims to showcase the best available research to the widest audience of O&T surgeons in Europe. Put your work on the stage and be part of the performance!
