Mount Sinai opens new orthopedic center in Manhattan

Michael Bronson

Mount Sinai announced the Orthopaedic Center at Mount Sinai West has opened, with Michael Bronson, MD, as the director of the new center.

“We are extremely excited about the opening of our new facility, which will provide patients throughout the city and especially on the west side of Manhattan with state-of-the-art care, and give them access to orthopedic physicians in all sub-specialties,” Bronson, who is also chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at Mount Sinai West and associate professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, said. “The center will also provide immediate access to patients with acute orthopedic problems so these can be addressed in a timely manner. A larger facility means patients won’t have to wait weeks or months to see a world-renowned specialist.”

According to a press release, the center will be the health system’s primary location for all orthopedic appointments on the Manhattan’s west side. Four surgeons have joined the center to expand care and services for total joint replacement, sports medicine, spine, foot and ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand injuries. The center will also be a teaching site for orthopedic medical students, residents and fellows.

“The Orthopaedic Center at Mount Sinai West represents Mount Sinai’s commitment to growth of the department of orthopedics and signifies integration of care and dedication to patients on the West Side,” Leesa Galatz, MD, system chair of Orthopaedics at Mount Sinai Health System, said in the release “This is a center for excellence in orthopedics and patients will know that when they come here they will get exemplary care.”
