In this video from the Open Operating Theatre, Ibrahim Obeid MD, from Bordeaux University Hospital in France, discusses how to perform an asymmetric pedicle subtraction osteotomy for complex post-traumatic deformity in a 58-year-old man.

Surgery begins with the pedicle screws being placed between T6-T8 using a free-hand technique. Internal correction is performed by cantilever maneuver, domino compression and in-situ bending. An external maneuver is used by manipulation of the head and mobilization of the Mayfield frame. The domino is placed to begin correction with the simultaneous cantilever maneuver with the rod and mobilization of the head.

This video is a teaching tool to help surgeons prepare for surgery or they can use it as a refresher on the surgical technique and indications for this surgery.
