VIENNA — DePuy Synthes announced 4-year survivorship data for the Attune knee implant at the 18th EFORT Annual Congress.

Based on an implant summary report from the National Joint Registry for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man (NJR), an independent analysis of 10,605 Attune knee implantations demonstrated the 4-year cumulative revision rate was 1.3% compared with the 1.9% cumulative revision rate for the overall class of total knee replacement.

According to a company press release, 46 Attune knees out of the 10,605 Attune knees included in the NJR analysis required revision. Results of a separate analysis expected there would be 63 Attune knee revisions at 4 years. The release noted this difference is statistically significant. The NJR calculated the expected number of revisions based on implant duration, age group, gender and indications.

“This most recent analysis adds to the body of evidence on the positive performance of the Attune knee,” Joshua Bridgens, DePuy Synthes franchise medical director, said in the release. “The information and data in this analysis, such as reasons for revision and preliminary findings on patient-reported outcomes, continue to validate the design principles and our expectations for the clinical performance of the Attune knee.”
