Paragon 28 announced the launch of the Gorilla Medial Column Plating System, a Charcot and midfoot reconstruction system for the treatment of deformities of the medial column.

According to a company press release, the new plating system offers 36 unique plating options. The plates are titanium and range in thickness from 1.55 mm to 2 mm to account for variations in size and severity of condition. The plates accept 2.7-mm, 3.5-mm, and 4.4-mm locking and non-locking polyaxial screws and allow for surgeons to target the highest quality bone around the fracture site. In addition, the plates are compatible with both R3CON and TuffNeck screw technologies, enabling variation in the stoutness of the construct. Each hole in the plate has a built-in recess to reduce screw head prominence.

As with all Paragon 28 systems, the Gorilla Medial Column Plating System includes specific instrumentation to facilitate dissection and plate placement. This instrumentation includes a pin distractor, a compression-distraction device, subchondral drill and cartilage removal tool.
