In this video from Open Operating Theatre, Claudio Lamartina MD, IRCCS, from the Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi in Milan, discusses the case of a 26-year-old woman with moderate back pain due to congenital scoliosis.

Prior conservative treatment was ineffective for controlling the evolution of the curve. When she was 10-years old, the patient wore a cast for 1 year and then wore a brace for 7 years with little improvement. The patient underwent surgery with a posterior approach to treat her deformity.

This video is a teaching tool to help surgeons prepare for surgery or they can use it as refresher on the surgical technique and indications for this surgery.
