ORLANDO, Fla. — At the Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Winter Meeting, Richard Iorio, MD, discussed a study in which he and Thomas A. Einhorn, MD, developed a treatment algorithm for osteonecrosis (ON). The treatment included mixing a core decompression with a stem cell procedure. Researchers found that with this algorithm, the need for a hip replacement was reduced by 80%.
