Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. announced it has launched the Comprehensive Vault Reconstruction System, which is reportedly the first patient-matched glenoid implant indicated for the treatment of patients with a severely deficient rotator cuff and extensive bone loss that cannot be treated with a standard glenoid baseplate.

According to a release, the Vault Reconstruction System uses CT scans and 3-D reconstruction techniques to allow surgeons to personalize implants.

“The Comprehensive Vault Reconstruction System is another example of our commitment to addressing the clinical and unmet needs of shoulder specialists,” Orsa Britton, vice president and general manager of Zimmer Biomet’s global extremities business, said in the release. “This innovative, patient-specific implant, coupled with extensive preoperative planning software, will expand viable treatment options for patients with severe glenoid deformities.”
