EFORT

The first draft of the scientific program for each EFORT Congress is prepared as early as 18 months ahead of time by the collaborative work of 25 topic advisors who are members of the EFORT Science Committee.

In an initial meeting, these experts build the first 40% of the scientific program, which consists of the so-called “EFORT invited sessions.” These sessions follow one of the six EFORT pre-defined formats (ie, Complex Case Discussion, Debate Forum, Evidence-Based Medicine Session, Instructional Lecture, Interactive Expert Exchange and Symposium). Well-known European experts in all fields of the specialty are then appointed to lead each session as its organizer. They also frame the program by suggesting the best presentations and speakers to fully cover the assigned topic.

To compile a pool of possible topics to address in each year’s program, EFORT extends an invitation to submit proposals to its National Member Societies, the European specialty societies, to every EFORT committee, as well as to individuals who have expressed a desire to suggest a session for inclusion in the program.

In 2018, the 19th EFORT Congress will be held in Barcelona from 30 May to 1 June. EFORT has just launched a new online platform to submit proposals for the congress in Spain, which is now open to our orthopaedics and traumatology community. As is the case with our abstract submissions, it is the perfect way to promote specific topics of interest within the congress and have an opportunity to contribute to the core features of the program.

As the participation of active members from our network is so important were pleased to hereby share the link of the proposal submission platform where an account for submission can be easily created by anyone in the field. The deadline to receive session proposals is Sunday, 8 January 2017; 23:59 CET.

All the submissions received will be reviewed by members of the EFORT Science Committee and the outstanding proposals will be further discussed for possible inclusion in the program. Specifics regarding appointed titles and faculty members will be adapted to the requirements stated in the EFORT guidelines and to the chosen main theme for the congress.

Seize this opportunity to be proactive within EFORT. Submit a session proposal and help us reach our objective to provide and maintain the highest education standards in trauma and orthopaedics within Europe.
