On behalf of the EFORT leadership and swiss orthopaedics, EFORT would like to thank its congress participants, the more than 6,700 persons from all over the world who attended the 17th EFORT Annual Congress in Geneva, in June.
The EFORT Science Committee, chaired by Professor Thierry Bégué, MD, (Paris, France) and more than 450 faculty members, offered a high-level scientific program that revolved around the main theme of “Maintaining Activity Through Life.” During the congress and due to the educational value of the program, the active sharing between colleagues opened new perspectives and initiated essential exchanges of experience. This will foster orthopaedic scientific progress in the year to come.
Anyone who missed the opportunity to attend one or several sessions should remember more than 800 audio presentations from the 17th EFORT Annual Congress in Geneva are available online from the e-Science digital library.

Also consult the press releases for the live feel of this extensive event. Last, but not least, in addition to all the constructive aspects of the Congress in Geneva, attendance at the 17th EFORT Congress also entitles attendees to 18 CME credits. Attendees should obtain their CME certificates directly from their EFORTnet account.
As part of its educational mission and to keep increasing the level of orthopaedic knowledge, EFORT is looking forward to connections between all the personal scientific contributions from the congress in Geneva to the content of the program at the upcoming 18th Annual Congress, which will be held 31 May to 2 June 2017 in Vienna, Austria. The basic components of the next annual meeting have already been set. The support of thousands of orthopaedic experts is needed to broadly cover such an important range of topics. It is abstract submissions from these experts that will turn the program for the 18th EFORT Annual Congress into reality.
Abstract submission
EFORT encourages orthopaedists to submit abstracts for the 2017 Congress starting on 15 September 2016. More than 700 complete studies, those with the most outstanding conclusions, will be selected as Free Papers; near to 100 individual case reports, which provide scientific value for specific treatments or techniques, will be presented orally as Clinical Cases; and up to 1,200 short trials based on preliminary results will be designated as Wall Posters to enhance the scientific exchanges at all levels of expertise.
Those who submit an abstract have the chance to have a significant impact on the practice of colleagues and gain recognition among their peers, should their work be selected for inclusion in the program of the 18th EFORT Annual Congress.
The deadline for abstract submission is 13 November 2016 at 23:59 CET.
