ISASS announces award winners for its 2016 annual meeting

At its annual meeting, the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery announced awards for the best overall paper, best clinical paper, best basic science paper, best poster and the Kostuik Innovation Award.

According to a press release from the society, Jeffrey Spivak, MD, won the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS) Leon Wiltse Award for best overall paper. The Charles D. Ray Award was given to Sudarshan Pramod, MBBS, MS, for best clinical paper. Saeed Khayatzadeh, PhD, was given an award for best basic science paper. The award for best poster went to Zhihua Ouyang. The Kostuik Innovation Award went to Matthew Scott-Young, MBBS, FRACS, FAOrthA.

“It is an exciting time for ISASS; we continue to grow, remaining always adaptable, motivated and responsive to our members and the patients they treat,” Gunnar Andersson, MD, PhD, outgoing ISASS president, said in the release. “The world of spine surgery is rapidly evolving, and I am positive that attendees of ISASS16 left with new ideas and information that will assist them in their own research and practice.”
