In the Patellofemoral Update in this issue of Orthopaedics Today Europe, Michael C. Liebensteiner, MD, PhD, of Innsbruck, Austria, discusses the surgical technical for and evidence-based outcome of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with the adductor magnus tendon. Although gracilis or semitendinosus medial hamstring autografts are used most often for the procedure, the adductor magnus tendon can be a useful alternative, particularly when the use of a femoral bone tunnel is critical, such as in pediatric patients and in some revision cases, according to Liebensteiner.
