Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation announced the launch of the Integra Fin-Lock Glenoid.

According to a company press release, the system is intended to help maximize long-term fixation and implant longevity. The addition also reportedly addresses the glenoid component loosening, which has been cited as a leading cause of total shoulder arthroplasty complications and failure. The prosthesis features a central peg with four fins of increased diameter to help improve pull-out strength. It also includes three peripheral pegs to help provide stability to combat component rocking. The Integra Fin-Lock Glenoid is made of highly crosslinked polyethylene which may help improve wear characteristics during the life of the implant.

“We are excited to launch the Fin-Lock system,” Mark Augusti, president of Integra’s Orthopedics and Tissue Technologies division, said in the release. “With this launch, we have a strong foundation for Integra’s commitment to developing the best glenoid solutions for surgeons and their patients.”
