Zimmer Holdings Inc announced in a press release that it has acquired Normed Medizin-Technik GmbH, a provider of technologies for the foot and ankle, hand and wrist reconstruction and trauma markets.

Based in Tuttlingen, Germany, Normed develops a range of specialized plates, screws and instruments, including systems for bone reconstruction and fracture repair, fusion procedures and external fixation. According to the press release, the acquisition of Normed will strengthen Zimmer’s Extremities and trauma product portfolios and new product development capabilities in the fast-growing foot and ankle, and hand and wrist markets.
