In my point of view, the medial patella femoral ligament is not the only ligament for patella stabilization. We should consider the lateral retinaculum, medial patella meniscal ligament and the medial patellotibial ligament, as well as the dynamic Q angle and quadriceps muscle, in order to maintain the patellar balance. My colleagues Gazi Huri, MD, and Egeman Turhan, MD, and I know the first step is do not touch, surgically, the knee cap. A rehabilitation program is the start of the concept to protect the patellar balance.
