Signus recently received a U.S. patent for Rotaio, an artificial cervical disc prosthesis. According to a press release from the company, the patent relates to a prosthesis design that allows it to resist high forces while the patient is in motion.

A recently published prospective observational study of 45 patients who underwent surgery with the Rotaio disc and had 2 years of follow-up indicated the device was safe and effective for the treatment of degenerative cervical disc disease, the release noted. Data from the study also showed the prosthesis was an alternative for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, according to the release.
