WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — Thomas P. Vail, MD, highlighted a discussion at Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2016 on the evolution of posterior approach for primary total hip replacement. He noted the posterior approach offers a quick return to function and excellent long-term outcomes like other hip replacement approaches.
He explained with the posterior approach there are ways to protect the muscle from damage by understanding the anatomy and the use of specific techniques.
