VGI Medical, a privately held medical device company, recently announced the first successful implantation of its patent-pending VerteLP Lateral Lumber Cage.

The patent-pending medical device features bicortical plating technology to facilitate simplified cage insertion and integrated fixation, which can all be performed through a direct, minimally invasive approach, according to a company press release.

“The first successful implantation of VerteLP represents a great milestone for the company. This, coupled with the successful navigation of the regulatory pathway, places us in a position to further implement the technology in other areas of the spine and expand our product portfolio,” Scott Ely, research and development manager of VGI Medical, said in the release.
