AAHKS announces American Joint Replacement Registry as its official registry

The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons has announced the American Joint Replacement Registry has been designated as the association’s official registry.

The decision was approved by the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) Board of Directors at their December meeting, according to a press release.

The multi-stakeholder, not-for-profit American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) collects data on primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures throughout the United States to improve patient outcomes. According to the press release, the AAHKS already has a close relationship with AJRR and nominates its members to two seats on the AJRR Board of Directors.

impact on the practice of hip and knee replacement in the U.S. and around the world. AJRR has progressed greatly this past year, having reached over 600 participating hospitals and releasing a Level III patient-reported outcome data collection platform.”

“The AJRR has proven itself the premier source of hip and knee arthroplasty data,” AAHKS president Jay R. Lieberman, MD, said in the press release. “AAHKS has worked with AJRR since the beginning, providing guidance, support, and recommendations along the way. We are pleased and excited to see the AJRR rapidly achieving the goals we all have for our U.S. national joint replacement registry.”

AAHKS has provided substantial financial support to the AJRR, and both organizations have worked together to ensure the registry collects appropriate data, according to the press release.
