The EFORT Autumn Travelling Fellowship 2014 took place in Turin and Florence, Italy, from 20 to 25 October. There were 14 participating fellows from all over Europe; Denmark, Finland, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Greece, Cyprus, Estonia, Kosovo, Hungary and Ireland.

The EFORT Autumn Travelling Fellowship was well organized in terms of an interesting scientific program, time for discussions, as well as a pleasant social program. We were warmly welcomed by the organizers in Turin and Florence and they were all interested in teaching us, showing us their work, as well as learning from our experiences.

As for the 13 other fellows, it was a great opportunity to meet with colleagues from all over Europe. The participants were all interested in exchanging experiences and knowledge – a unique and unforgettable possibility to connect with new friends and colleagues.

The first three days of the fellowship were organized in Turin. We were welcomed at the CTO in Turin by P. Rossi who gave us a brief summary of the hospital, the department and their activities. At the end of the first day, all participants presented themselves, as well as their country and organization. The organizers in Turin also arranged visits to excellent restaurants and time for a stroll through the city of Turin.

The second part of the fellowship took place in Florence and consisted of a variety of lectures, among these the allograft technique by R. Capanna, as well as the possibility to participate in the operating rooms in traumatology, tumor surgery and arthroplasty. As in Turin, the visit in Florence also included visits to some wonderful restaurants allowing us to taste the delicious Italian cuisine, as well as visits to the beautiful historical city center of Florence.

I would like to thank EFORT for the opportunity to participate in this Fellowship program as well as the organizers in Italy for making this week so special and finally the fellows for making this week an unforgettable experience.
