BioElectronics recently announced B. Braun Medical as the exclusive U.K. distributor of the company’s RecoveryRx pain device.

Utilized in orthopedics and trauma patients, RecoveryRx is designed to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain while decreasing edema, according to a company press release.

The device, which will first be used following total hip and knee arthroplasty procedures, as well in spine surgery and trauma patients, is also purported to provide earlier mobilization, accelerated rehabilitation and better functional outcomes for patients.

Following initial distribution in the U.K., the RecoveryRx device will likely be distributed in Germany and other surrounding areas, according to the release. As per the working agreement, B. Braun will also conduct UK-based studies of knee arthroplasty and bone healing.

“Providing effective analgesia and a reduced need for [NSAIDs] and opioids is inherently safer, better tolerated and more cost-effective, particularly in an aging population,” Deepak Kotak, MD, Esq, BioElectronics’ executive vice president, said in the release. “We are delighted that after evaluation in the clinic, B. Braun recognized the utility and broad application of RecoveryRx technology in orthopedics.”
