BioMedical Enterprises recently announced the launch of the company’s new Speed Hand and Wrist System.
The system, touted by the company as bringing an optimized implant selection workflow in a disposable nitinol implant system, is designed for use with the company’s Speed nitinol implants with bridges from 9 mm to 15 mm. According to a press release from BioMedical Enterprises (BME), surgeons can choose the implant bridge size and drill in one step with the system’s proprietary dual-purpose ergonomic drilling templates. BME’s Depth Gauge for ideal leg length measurements prior to choosing an implant is also included in the system.
The Speed Hand and Wrist system, which is disposable and pre-sterilized, is now available for commercial use throughout the United States.
“We believe that the launch of our new Speed Hand and Wrist System will help drive BME into the leadership position in the upper extremity market. We are continuing to focus resources on expanding products and the uses of nitinol implants in hand and wrist procedures,” Keith M. Peeples, president and chief executive officer of BME, stated in the release. “We applaud our dedicated consulting surgeons, who worked closely with our engineers to help us develop this product. This system will maximize efficiencies in the operating room and help make procedures go more smoothly. As with all BME products, our ultimate goal is to empower our surgeons to achieve better patient outcomes.”
