Smith & Nephew recently announced the launch of its TRIGEN META-TAN System for femoral fracture fixation at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting.

A new addition to the company’s TRIGEN line, the META-TAN nail is indicated for fixation of hip fractures in patients with good quality bone. The system incorporates the company’s dual integrated screw design with multiplanar screws, which is able to gain and maintain compression of the proximal femur and provides optimum fracture stability, according to a company press release.

The thin size of the new nail in the META-TAN System may also benefit patients with narrow femoral canals. This nail is available with a variable bow to accommodate a various patient anatomy, as noted in the release.
