Materialise NV and Lima Corporate recently signed an agreement to collaborate on new surgical guides for partial knee implants.

The agreement allows Lima to offer the Materialise-powered surgical knee guide system in the EEA region and Switzerland, according to a Materialise press release.

The surgical guides are used for partial knee replacement implants and allow surgeons to plan procedures in 3-D based on the patient’s unique anatomy and create 3-D-printed patient-specific guides based on the preoperative plans. Materialise has 25 years of experience in 3D planning and printing for medical applications.

Under the agreement, Lima Corporate will now offer to surgeons the 3-D printing surgical knee guide system with respect to the unicondylar knee system it recently acquired from Zimmer.

“Through this collaboration with Lima, orthopaedic surgeons will be able to benefit from the advantages that 3-D printing can offer in the planning and execution of partial knee arthroplasty,” Jeroen Dille, director of Materialise’s Clinical Unit, stated in the release.
