Stryker today announced it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Muka Metal in an all-cash transaction.

The acquisition of Muka, a Turkey-based retailer of stretchers, hospital beds and other assorted hospital room furniture and accessories, builds off a distribution agreement the companies have had in Latin America since 2012. The transaction, pending customary closing conditions, is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2015, according to a company press release.

“The acquisition of Muka aligns with our strategy to expand our global presence through existing channels with an established and trusted brand,” Timothy J. Scannell, Stryker group president of MedSurg and Neurotechnology, said in the release. “This acquisition will bolster Stryker Medical’s bed and stretcher offerings and is a compelling opportunity to drive growth in Turkey and other regions around the world.”
