DJO Global recently announced they have reached an agreement with Zimmer Biomet to purchase several orthopedic offerings from the company.

Per the agreement, DJO will purchase the Cobalt Bone Cement, the Optivac Cement Mixing Accessory line and the Discovery Elbow System for the U.S. market.

The Cobalt Bone Cement is utilized in hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and other implant-based procedures and comes in a number of viscosities and antibiotic solutions for optimal performance. The Optivac system is indicated for use with Cobalt Bone Cement and other cement offerings. The purchase of the Discovery Elbow System will be DJO’s first move into the elbow market, according to a press release.

The transaction is expected to close within 10 days, according to the release.

“These product acquisitions are a part of a broader strategy to invest in our fast-growing implant business,” Mike Mogul, CEO of DJO Global, said in the release. “We believe our surgical division is poised to continue its position as the fastest-growing orthopedic implant company.”
