BioMedical Enterprises has announced the launch of the Speed Triad Nitinol Bone Fixation Implant, the company’s new bunion fixation solution.

According to the company, the implant is the first-ever super-elastic shape memory bone fixation system and features three legs for six-point fixation. The Speed Triad also comprises a bowing bridge and a proximal leg that converges to compress the long axis of bone segments.

The implant is made of nitinol to allow for better contoured fixation and is designed to reduce surgical time and complications and offer enhanced fixation in osteotomy-based bunion correction, according to a company press release.

Coming ready for use on a preloaded insertion tool, the Speed Triad has the ability to maintain compression through repetitive loading and is now available throughout the U.S., the release stated.

“The Speed Triad … is part of the most comprehensive Nitinol Fixation System to successfully address the problem of bunion fixation,” Keith M. Peeples, BioMedical Enterprises’ president and CEO, said in the release. “We continue to raise the bar for cutting-edge, effective and simple fixation solutions for extremity surgeons.”
