Townsend announces North American release of new OA knee brace
Townsend Design recently announced the North American release of Active Reliever, the company’s new osteoarthritis knee brace.
According to a company press release, the Active Reliever brace reduces pain stemming from osteoarthritis on the affected side by alleviating the load carried on that side of the knee. It has a semi-rigid frame that is sewn into the fabric, a counterforce tension strap and a Townsend Motion Hinge, which allows for enhanced anatomical knee movement.
The brace is available to be custom-fitted for patients as well as in standard sizes. Foreign sales of the Active Reliever brace will commence in July, according to the release.
“Decompressive bracing continues to gain momentum as a conservative treatment option for men and women who are compromised by knee injuries and degenerative conditions,” Rick Riley, CEO of Townsend Design, said in the release. “Through the release of the Active Reliever and other products in our development pipeline, we’re increasing our focus on wearable designs that apply alignment-enhancing and off-loading corrective forces to the leg to reduce pain and increase patient mobility.”
