Nexxt Spine announces full market release of anterior plating system
Nexxt Spine has announced the full market release of the Struxxure Anterior Cervical Plating System. The system was recently on display at the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington D.C.
The Struxxure system is designed to help address the potential for adjacent level ossification (ALO) by offering the widest cephalad / caudal screw angulation within an ultra-low-profile anterior cervical plate, according to a company press release.
A shorter plate may be used by increasing the cephalad / caudal screw angulation, which in turn increases the distance to the adjacent disc level, wherein studies have reported a reduced risk of developing postoperative degenerative changes, including ALO, according the release.
Company representatives cited several published papers that showed ALO significantly decreases when the plate-to-disc distance is greater than 5 mm from the adjacent level.
