Haag-Streit USA, Sony Medical announce 3-D visualization technology
Sony Electronics’ Medical Systems Division and Haag-Streit USA unveiled new 3-D imaging technologies in 4-K resolution for surgery during the recent American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting.
During the meeting, the two companies highlighted the combination of Sony’s MCC-3000MT camera and HVO-3000MT 3-D recorder with Haag-Streit’s new HS 5-1000 microscope system for neurosurgery, according to a press release.
The new end-to-end combination system features Sony’s 3-D medical camera that mounts to the Haag-Streit microscope, video recorder, display and editing software to import and edit footage.
According to the press release, the new imaging system integrates onto the microscope, which allows full use of the microscope without the loss of binoculars or any other aspect of the microscope system.
Additionally, the 5-1000 incorporates SensoServo drive technology to move the microscope in all directions, eliminating the need for balancing.
“Microscopes need to work seamlessly with other medical devices like cameras and recorders without inhibiting the use of any binocular or disrupting workflow in the OR,” Mike Luley, vice president of the surgical division at Haag-Streit USA, said in the press release.
