Blue Belt Technologies recently announced detailed the first Navio-assisted SIGMA High Performance Unicondylar Knee surgery.

Performed by Brian Hamlin, MD, of Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, the procedure is the first instance of Blue Belt’s Navio system working hand-in-hand with DePuy’s Sigma Unicondylar Knee offering to allegedly enhance implant placement accuracy and improve soft tissue balancing. “The results were excellent,” Hamlin stated in a press release. “We ended with a well-balanced knee that tracked perfectly throughout the range of motion.”

“Blue Belt is focused on bringing the best solutions to our customers,” Eric Timko, Blue Belt Technologies’ president and chief executive officer, commented in the release. “DePuy Synthes is an industry leader; supporting SIGMA HP Partial opens up a large surgical following that now have the option to use our Navio robotic-assisted technology.”
