Corin Group recently announced its acquisition of Australia-based technology firm, Optimized Ortho.

According to a company press release, the acquisition provides Corin with an intellectual property-protected technology that is the first of its kind within the orthopedic field — the Optimized Positioning System (OPS). OPS technology enables surgeons to identify, customize and deliver patient-specific component orientations in order to optimize biomechanics and functional joint performance, according to the release.

“We are delighted to have the ability to integrate this technology into our compelling product portfolio,” Stefano Alfonsi, CEO of Corin, said in the release. “We recognize that further improvements in hip replacement require developments around procedural innovation, as well as implant design. Our vision for the future will be to lead in the area of personalized health care, with a specific focus on individual patient-specific dynamics.”
