Stryker Spine launches anchor-based ALIF technology

SAN FRANCISCO — Stryker Spine launched the Aero-AL System here at the North American Spine Society’s annual meeting.

The Aero-AL System is the only anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) device that compresses across the interbody space, according to a company press release. The compression technology is designed to draw the vertebral bodies toward the implant to create compressive forces at the implant-to-endplate interface.

“Aero-AL is the first of its kind,” Hyun W. Bae, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, said in the release. “Through its less invasive approach, it enables me to confidently perform an ALIF and obtain circumferential segmental strength and stability.”

“The addition of Aero-AL strengthens our product portfolio in the global ALIF market and furthers our commitment to growth in this key segment,” Bradley Paddock, Stryker Spine’s vice president and general manager of sales and marketing, said in the release.
