Reed joins Laser Spine Institute’s St. Louis location
The Laser Spine Institute has announced that it recently welcomed St. Louisan orthopedic spine surgeon, William O. Reed Jr., MD, to its St. Louis location.
Reed, an American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery-certified surgeon and one of the first surgeons to pursue minimally invasive spine surgery, is now a part of one of Laser Spine Institute’s new Midwest ambulatory surgery centers, according to a press release.
Prior to joining the Laser Spine Institute, Reed practiced in Kansas City and served as a flight surgeon and orthopedic surgeon for the Air Force. Reed introduced the benefits of arthroscopic surgery to the Rapid Deployment Force based at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina in the early 1980s, according to the release.
As part of the Laser Spine Institute’s requirements for all new surgeons, Reed will complete a fellowship program that includes intensive training and key learnings about the company’s surgical practices. Reed will train with surgeons at Laser Spine Institute’s Tampa location, which will include time spent under Michael C. Weiss, DO, chairman of the department of surgery, according to the release.
