Medline acquires Amendia’s anterior cervical fusion distraction pin business
Medline Industries, in Mundelein, Ill., announced in a press release it has acquired the anterior cervical fusion distraction pin business from Amendia, a provider of Class II and Class III medical devices used in spine surgery.
With the acquisition of the distraction pin, Medline now offers a full range of surgical instruments for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures, which includes distraction and retraction instruments, a variety of Kerrison rongeurs and surgical procedure packs.
“We are expanding our product portfolio to meet all of our customers’ needs across the continuum of care,” Rob Lockwood, president of Medline’s operating room division, stated in the press release. “Now that we will be offering our own distraction pins, surgical instruments and other necessary medical and surgical supplies, we have everything a facility needs to help provide the best care and patient outcomes.”
As noted in the press release, Medline’s agreement with Amendia also includes acquiring the design and regulatory pathway for the Amendia anterior cervical fusion distraction pin. Terms of the agreement, however, were not disclosed.
